2月20日 – Super Bz 的 “人日”

What a bz day it was on the 7th day of CNY. Kana hassled out of bed at 11am by my dad for the family Lo hei session at J8 Crystal Jade.



Didn’t have much appetite and ended up eating lesser than usual. So I re-channeled my attention to BB Kayley. She was in a good mood that day and was quite a joy to play with when she wasn’t throwing tantrums (which was by far, seldom).



After which, I headed down to Art’s place coz’ he had volunteered and promised to cook lunch for me. Yippee! As I’m not much of a cook nor am I of any good as a kitchen helper, I pretty much just stood by and observed how he cooked prawn aglio. Maybe I will attempt to try it out myself (as in cooking) one fine day…



The food’s not bad except that too much chilli was added to it so it kinda tipped the taste a little. But all-in-all, not bad. Though I wasn’t of much help during the preparation, I did bring a bottle of Mocasto (which I downed half of it and ended up being a little tipsy for the next few hours) and did the dishes when we were done. Following which, Tuk and I met up again at City Hall to scout around for a camera bag/ casing for my GF1, and to catch a movie (Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief) at Illuma. The seats there were very spacious. Lots of legroom and a huge screen (as in wider screens compared to other cinemas').

When we were done with the movie, we decided to walk from Bugis to Marina (where the Uncle Ringo amusement ride fair was held) to take some pictures. Well, here are the results of my very first attempt in using GF1 (aside from taking photos of the usual family crowd):

Well, there’s always a first for everything. So I guess I’ll just keep toying with my camera and see how it goes!

2月17日 – 迟来的情人节 celebration

其实也并不算真的在庆祝情人节啦。
只不过和Tuk 到 Somerset 313 闲逛了一番，然后便到 basement 2 的 The Icing Room 吃了一块儿
“长” 得还蛮可爱的甜点。

之后，我们便到 Cathay Cineleisure 的 Burger bench & bar (B3) 去品尝不一样的汉堡。虽然价格是比麦当劳贵了点，但是味道和口感都不错。吃起来也并不油泥。感觉像是吃了较健康的汉堡似的。Tuk 点的是 Sarawak black pepper beef burger (Combo $8.80). 而我的则是 Japanese curry chicken katsu burger。

填饱肚子后，我们便到楼上的戏院观看 Valentine’s Day，一步浪漫喜剧。会选这部戏是因为有 star-studded cast 还有我喜欢的 Jennifer Garner。在看戏的当儿，有些女生（包括我在内）会时不时发出 “oooo…so sweet” 之类的声音。因为有些 scenes 实在太可爱／甜蜜／浪漫了。而戏院里的男生们（包括Tuk 在内）也会时不时发出类似的声音。。。但那不是因为他们也有同感，而是为了故意 annoy 我们（在场女生）才模仿我们的 cooing 的。他们还真够无聊的。虽然无聊，但却也觉得还蛮好笑的。难得有那么多对情侣同看一部戏，然后又有那么“热烈”的反应和莫名的互动。

Fragile

Looking at my dad playing with my niece, coaxing her and watching her every move, I suddenly wondered if these were the same things that my dad had done for me when I was young. I have no memories of my time with my dad when I was young. Really young. My memories with him began when I was about 4 or 5 yrs old - I was sleeping on the sofa while my mom mopped the floor. The door drifted open slowly in bright daylight and in came my dad. I vaguely remember looking at him and thinking "a stranger, yet so familiar". I can't remember the exact words my mom had said but it must have been some kind of assurance that the stranger is my dad. He had gone overseas to work for quite a period of time. But he's now home. I didn't speak to him then, if I remembered correctly.

I was later bribed by the prospect of choosing and getting my own new toy (I usually had hand-me-downs from my sis), and went willingly with him to somewhere and picked up an ugly (now that I come to think of it) white polar bear in a tuxedo. The bribe worked and I was soon talking, playing and pestering him. Many other memories followed. Some good, some bad. But mostly good.

Most of all, I remembered his hands, holding mine, playing peekaboo with me and of course, smacking me at times when I went out of hand. As I looked on at the same pair of hands that now plays with and yet protecting my niece at the same time, it dawned on me that the pair of hands had aged... and it makes me ponder when will I ever be able to bring myself to put my hands in his again, to give them a gentle squeeze to mean that everything's ok, I'm around and alive, and grateful to be clinging on to what had clung onto me when my life was once fragile. To mean that I am sorry for all the regretful things that I had done, even things that were done without his knowledge. And to mean that I will be strong when the day to part does come. I hope time is on my side. It's not in my culture to do or say to him things that are of such sentimental value. And I'm not sure if I ever can. But I will try. It may take time. But I will try.

2010 - 不浪漫的情人节

今年的情人节“好死不死“和大年初一撞在同一天。
原本打算提早庆祝情人节的，但是碍于工作的关系，我们迟迟未能订下日期。
正当我们以为没法抽空庆祝情人节时，在星期三晚上，我们意外的提早收工，
便临时决定去 Mandarin Gallery (L4) 的 Ippudo，吃面庆祝。

虽然食物方面还蛮不错的，但整个行程却少了情人节该有的浪漫元素。
咳。谁叫我们俩都放不下工作。
