Crazy April...

The month of April had been a little crazy for me.
The birthday celebrations, the scotland/ london backpacking preparations and on top of that, work commitments. Well, everything's ok when handled in isolation, but when things came together, it got a little chaotic at times... haha!

Re-capping baby Kayley's first month celebration...
Mom and Dad seemed cool at first but as time got closer to the actual day of celebration, they were "subtly" dropping hints to me and bro on what they should get for their first grandchild and bugging us almost everyday (through hints like leaving a baby brochure on the coffee table & etc) to bring them to the shops.

In the end, they decided on a Winnie-the-pooh gold anklet (as part of the chinese tradition to offer gold jewelery to the newborn) and a baby clothes set. The anklet costs over SGD400 and a little too expensive for something like that... I've never ever received any gift close to that value throughout all my years of living from them! Call me sour grapes if you want. But oh well, like my father said, it's the first grandchild and it's only a once-in-a-lifetime gift to her. Chey!

On the day of the celebration (held in the multi-function room at my sis' place), all the guests were almost "fighting" for a glimpse of baby kayley... but she was asleep throughout the whole celebration and oblivious to the woos and ahs around her.

In the end, we resorted we taking photos of my sis and bro-in-law's friends (their kids, i mean). There were loads of them and damn cute. But as I didn't know their parents on a personal front, i'm gonna leave their pix out of here, just in case.

And the gift that intrigued me the most for that day was a 3-tiered cake made from baby clothes, towels and socks. Ahhhhh~ wasn't it cute?

Re-capping Wei Siang's birthday celebration...
It had been quite some time since we last had our bowling session. And one sure way to lure the birthday boy to appear in this surprise celebration was to use bowling as an excuse. As planned, we went to Marina @ Waraku for dinner. But what we hadn't expected was that the alleys were totally filled and there was an extremely long queue.

That's when we executed plan B and got our asses down to Secret Recipe instead on the pretext of needing a cup of coffee after dinner. In actual fact, the pre-ordered 2kg birthday cake was there, awaiting for collection.

While Akong ran away to bomb the toilet and to get ready the red-packet, we sat around the tables and started chit-chatting - albeit the birthday boy looking disappointed as he could not go for his bowling session (as we had promised) and perhaps a slight possibility of us forgetting his birthday (which was only a few days away) as well.

When akong finally returned, we surprised the birthday boy with a gigantic 2kg cake.

When we cut into slices just right for 10 people, each slice is almost as big as our faces! Waraoz... I supposed I had eaten close to half a year's supply of my annual cake-intake that night! If that wasn't enough, we had this silly competition to see who was the fastest eater and who was the slowest... as you could have imagined, i was the last to complete. As usual.

And how could we disappoint the birthday boy after all? After the cake session, we headed down to west coast for 2 rounds of bowling games. Weren't we sweet? Hahahaha...
