24th April (土曜日) - Celebrating Pa's (again) & WS' bd
Super tiring but fun weekend! It started with me waking up at 8.30am so that I can get to my hair cut appointment on time - P.S: I loathe waking up early on a weekend. Following which, I took the train down to Changi Airport T3 to fetch Tuk (back from his hometown, Terengganu). And while we were having lunch at the airport, Sis called to ask me to get a cake for Dad, and that's when we went on a last minute whirlwind cake hunt within the airport premise - 'coz we had less than an hour to get the cake and get back home. Fortunately, we managed to hunt down and settled on a Blackforest cake from Bengawan Solo within minutes.
And after the cake-cutting "ceremony" and the usual family pix-taking session, I had to abandon my plans for a nap and quickly made my way down to Marina Square for the gang's "inaugural" bowling session.
ZhiHui, Wei Siang and I were in one team. Cheryl, Akong and Tanpopo in another. Despite being a gutter cleaner within the gang, my team still managed to emerge tops! (^ 0 ^)
To celebrate our win & WS' birthday, we headed over to Pu Tien (莆田 @ Marina Square) for some chinese cuisine. We'd made an 7.30pm reservation and had turned up on time but was told to wait for a while as one of the staff had made a mistake by giving our table away to another customer. In the end, the "a while" turned out to be about 1.5hrs of wait before we finally got our table. By then, I was famished and about to faint. I'm serious. We could have walked away but the thought of everywhere else within the mall was going to be as crowded and that we would have to queue all over again, kept us back on the waiting bench. We kept our cool - since the staff were really apologetic and it was WS' bd after all and we didn't want to ruin the mood - and get about enjoying our dinner when we finally got our table and food:
The food's not bad but not to the extent that I will think of it every now and then and purposely make my way down just to eat there. And apparently, it's usual to see a long queue during the peak dining hours and the average waiting time is about an hr or so.
Well, back to the occasion. So, after filling up our starved tummies, we sang WS a bd song and he blew out the candles on the choc cake in all but one breath. Wow... it was so fast that I couldn't capture the moment with my camera and his act had stunned the rest of the gang into a round of hysterics.
When we finally reined our laughter in check and gobbled up the cake, we opted for a late night stroll on the newly launched Helix Bridge.
Did some group shots...
... and some randoms too...
We really should do this more often... but without the wait please!
