Chalet - 21st March 08

At last! The much anticipated annual chalet was here. The sky was gloomy with occasional showers across the island. ‘Mishap’ was plentiful as well. For a start, Cheryl went to see a doc and the east gang was late.

The Central gang (which consisted of me, PC, Lenus and Christie, on the other hand, was none too fortunate either. Traveled to AMK in search of the dice game Cheryl had spoken about, only to realize that they didn’t sell it there. That was not all. We’d taken the longer route from AMK to Pasir Ris and reached there later than expected. We were also conned by the electronic parking lot indicator which told us how many parking lots were left on each floor. But guess what? Although the indicator stated 18 more lots were available, there were none!!! I guessed we’d spent more than half hr going in circles just to find a lot. Haiz.

Before long, the east and central gangs came together and a handful of us ‘escaped’ (if you knew what I meant) from the chalet to the NTUC at white sands, to stock up for our BBQ. Since all of us had some of ordeal before this, we sat down at Ya Kun for hot toasts and kopi to relax and fill up our almost-empty-stomachs before rampaging through NTUC for our much anticipated BBQ night.

And here’s the evidence of our rampage!

Back in the chalet, just before we tucked ourselves in into the sumptuous sushi meal by Chef Lenus, we ganged up together to come up with a conspiracy. Using Adrian’s TNP as a decoy, we hid the 2 birthday cards in it and took turns to ‘bomb’ the toilet. It was just a cover to hide the fact that we were scribbling birthday wishes on the cards in a damp and not so pleasant environment. Some of us even sneaked out to write the cards downstairs.

Just as the food frenzy was about to begin, Cheryl and I tucked ourselves into the toilet and started to plant a tiny candle to each Macaroon. There were 20 pieces in total. But due to space constraint and the fact that the sink area was too damp for us to execute this daunting task, we had to do it on top of a covered toilet bowl. We cursed and swore under our breaths as the seconds kept ticking away. We dropped 3 candles along the way and Cheryl, being the closest to the sink, had to picked them up from the floor, washed and dried them before passing them to me to plant onto the Macaroons. I guessed she washed it pretty clean as none of us got stomachs after eating the Macaroons! Hahahahhaha.

Finally it was done. We lighted the candles and brought it out of the toilet and into the room of unsuspecting audience…

Presented the presents to the two birthday girls…

Tucked into the Sushi meal...

The aftermath? A few of us had to do the washing and cleaning up...

After a few rounds of Hard Gay and the “Cat catches mouse” game (which got Tampopo crying with joy, Adrian going bonkers and passing the ‘virus’ to us), we decided to go for a 5-sequential shots and ending it off with a toast.

With all the laughter and alochol (penalty of the games), we soon became hungry and tucked into our choc fondue.

Perhaps it was a case of too much alcohol, Tampopo and I (plus the additional hand – courtesy of Wei Siang) took the chance to abuse JacQ’s Totoro...

Next day, the sky was gloomy once again. Late afternoon, a handful of us decided to venture into the not-so-exciting Escape theme park for some fun…

Before long, it began to pour. History repeated itself once again, much to our dismay. But this time, we were more prepared. Two of us pulled on our raincoats and armed ourselves with umbrellas and formed a formation to guard the sacred BBQ pit fire…

Although all of us agreed that the chalet could have been more fun, if not for a less-than-welcomed appearance, it was an overall a fun one… :)
