Getaway...

It's official... I'm leaving for Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam, late this month. Hahha, but not for good. Only 5D4N for a short getaway before I start work at my new workplace.

There's this mad rush again in making the travel decision in less than 24hrs (very me), booking the air tickets (which happen to be on sale), sorting out travel insurance and finding a budget hotel. Done. All done... in less than 24hrs.

Initially, I planned for a 8D7N trip to Mongolia for an experience of a life time - to lead a nomadic life for that short span. But working backwards, I didn't have enough days off!

Then I decided to opt for a 7D6N trip to Nepal. But I guess it was not meant to be as there was ticket to Nepal but none back (deja vu?). I reduced my expectations and asked for 5D4N trip instead. But heck! The travel agent quoted me S$1368! It was more expensive than the 7D6N. Man... what is this world turning into?

Before I decided on Vietnam, I had toyed with the notion off getting my ass to UK to visit the long-awaited "Frogdo", but the high airfare kept me sane.

Thought about seeing Taj Mahal, but decided that could wait.

Wanted to revisit Japan again and witness the Summer Hanabi festival but the sheer heat and airfare put me back on track.

Let me see... where else did I think of???

Taiwan? Been there, done that.

Hong Kong? Dunno any cantonese and figured it will be too stressful an environment for a short trip to recharge.

China? Olympics going on... dun wan to be stuck in the crowd like a sardine.

Bangkok? Accumulated too many chops on my passport already. Think i need another from a different place.

Then reality struck me....

My bank book tells me I need to be sane. Thus, I went berserk trying to search for promo fares and that's how I landed on Vietnam.

Less than 20 days away... how much longer can I stay sane?

Wish me luck.

The Tour of Misia Discotheque Asia

yaya.. i know, i know. It's been a really long time since I last updated my blog and pplez been asking when I intend to do that.

So, here it is. And I'm glad to share a piece of good news!

After a long await, I've finally got my hands on the front row concert tickets for the upcoming "The Tour of Misia Discotheque Asia" , during the pre-sale event at HMV (The Heeren) today. :)

Three of us camped out at HMV since 10.30am (sale starts at 1pm). Although there were some major hiccups along the way, i'm glad that we got our tickets finally. And thanks to the really helpful HMV staff, we sailed through the hiccups and got the tickets. You guys really made our day! :)

I'm really excited (and I guess for all jpop fans out there) as it's the first time a jpop artiste comes to S'pore for a concert - that is if you exclude the more veteren singers like Aska, of course.

To give you a brief background, Misia boasts a 5 octave vocal range. That's quite a feat for an asian.

Here's a proof of my ticket :P

For pplez who will like to know more about the concert, click here or do a google search on "MISIA".
